The Colours of Autumn

**
We're right in the middle of Autumn here
in Australia and as it's my favourite season
I thought it was the perfect time to make
this card.
**
The background paper comes with a story.
I had wanted to make a scrapbook page a
few years ago and I knew exactly what the
paper was to look like - the only problem
was I couldn't find it anywhere, that is
until I saw it in a Close to my Heart ad.
So Ifound the paper but this created a bigger
problem - CTMH don't sell in Australia.
I searched and searched for weeks to find this
paper and then I found it for sale on Ebay
in America- by a lady who has since
turned out to be one of my dearest friends.
To this day I still tell her she was my best
purchase I've made on Ebay!!!!!!
**
**
I like this weeks sketch challenge from SCS, nice clean
lines - it's a good sketch for a busy background like the
one I've used.
All of my stamps are from various Magnolia collections,
which are available from Roses on Paper.
The gorgeous new Butterfly collection is on order and
should be in the store very soon.

It's Time For Another ROP Challenge......

**
Spring is in the air - - - - f0r some of you,
and Autumn is all around me so the colours for
this weeks challange at ROP are really at the
opposite end of spectrum for me.
**
The very telented Susan has chosen
Aqua, Peach and Butter Yellow
for the a fun colour combination challenge at
Summer always puts up some great prizes so
grab your stamps - remember they must be either
Magnolia, Alota, Stampavie, or the Greeting Farm
(all of which are available from Summer)
and join us in another fun challenge.
**
**
I don't ususally work with blues or greens so this
really was a challenge for me, but I was really
pleased with the end results - and I must admit
the colour combination works really well together -
very Springy (is that a word???)

Believe in the Magic of Fairies

**
I love blog hopping - it's like turning left on the freeway
instead of taking the usual right hand turn - you just
don't know where you're going to end up. And that's
exactly what happened today - I turned left and ended
up at a brand new challange blog - Just Magnolia.
The challenge - create a card using
the sketch, using any image you like -
as long as it's a Magnolia!!!
**
**
I go through months of learning a new
technique and then it appears on most
of my cards lol!!!
Last month it was hat pins - this month
it's hand made quilled flowers.
It's awesome how a few twists and turns
of paper can turn into a flower.
I've got a lot to learn but I've been really
pleased with what I've done so far.
My friend Moi has given me some fantastic
instructions for the roses -
I've tried heaps of different techniques,
but these are by far the best.
**

**
I love this Fairy image, available from
Roses on Paper. She looks so cheeky
and cute - and I can just imagine her
dancing in my rose garden at midnight.

A Few Cards ....

**
It seems like forever since I've up loaded cards.
With school holidays and Easter I've been flat
out keeping the kids entertained, however this
week I decided to keep myself entertained - and
so I headed straight to my craft room.
**

**
This gorgeous Magnolia image with the cute little chicks is
from the Easter collection, available from
Roses On Paper.
I had wonderful intentions of getting her in the mail for a
friend for Easter, but she's still sitting on my desk -
maybe I'll get in early for next Easter.

I don't have any Hanglar stamps of my own, but I've
been lucky enough to have been sent some images from
my fellow DT member,
Lim.
It's nice to have some different images to work with, ones
that you have to be really careful with because if you mess
it up - too bad - there's not another one to to replace it with.
**

**
I computer generated with strawberry embellishments
and added crystal effects to really make you think you
could grab them and eat them.
I love the shoes on this Hanglar girl - they remind me so
much of a pair I used to have when I was little.

I'm not that good at making masculine cards,
and this one was no exception.
Apart from the Hanglar boy I don't think I
could make it any more 'girly' if I tried.
**

**
My friend
Moi has kindly given me the instructions on
how to make these fantastic paper roses. They are quite
easy to make and look great, now I just need to resist the
temptation to put them onto everycard I make!!!

ROP Challenge - Decorated Candle

**
I've wanted to decorate a candle for so
long, but have always been apprehensive, thinking
it would be too difficult - boy was I wrong.
**
**
At Roses On Paper this week there is actually two
challenges to choose from.
Hosted by my very talented friend, Iris
you are being given the choice of decorating
a candle or using the inspirational picture to make a card.
A Hint - do the candle - it is SOOOOOO much fun.
With the help of a great tutorial from Iris I picked this
technique up in no time.
I was meant to decorate one candle for the DT team,
but I ended up making 5!!!!!
For your chance to join in the fun, learn a new technique
and maybe pick up an awesome prize donated by Summer,
head over to our Challenge Blog.
**
**
Once I got started I was instantly hooked.
I'm now thinking ahead for all the beautiful presents
I can make with a matching card,
who wouldn't be happy to receive that.
**
**
For the Tilda candle I used my H20's
to decorate the stamped image.
I was concerned that they might lose some of
their shimmer once the was paper went over the top -
but surprisingly the images are still shimmery.
**

**
Prima Belle Fleur flowers, which are available
in various colours from Summer were used to
decorate the candle, with matching ribbon and
brads to finish off.
**

**
My church candle, using and image from Alota Rubber Stamps ,
which is available from Summer turned out to be my
favourite candle.
I stamped my image with Memento Tuxedo Black and
highlighted it with gold glitter.
**
**
I was able to incorporate my new love at the moment,
a handmade decorated hatpin, as additional decoration
along with matching black satin and gold ribbon.
