Christmas with Tilda

**
I've had so much fun making my Christmas cards this
year and I really hope my family and friends love Tilda
as much as I do.
**
At this time of year most of the challenge blogs are calling
for something Christmas, and our very own Roses on Paper
is no different. Our current challenge, which runs through
til the 13th December is to make an Altered Christmas Gift.
There is definately no shortage of ideas out there if you are
looking for some inspiration.
I've chosen two challenge blogs for my Christmas with Tilda
collection of cards.
**
The first is Magnolia Down Under, who are calling for a
Magnolia themed Christmas Card, ok so I've definately
got that covered and my next choice is a fairly new blog
and another one from Australia (have to support my local
challenge blogs) Bizzy Becs, who are also calling for a
Christmas theme, with lots of glitter and snowflakes.
I may have missed the snowflakes but I've got Christmas
and glitter covered.

ROP Challenge - Christmas Gift, Part 2

**
As soon as I saw the kids making "Picture Products"
at kinder I was inspired to make a plate for myself.
This then turned into a cup and when I picked up my
order last week I had four plates and four cups!!!
Now I have some personalised dinner sets for a couple
of special little friends for Christmas.
**
**
Picture Products is an Australian company, however I'm
sure that the general idea is available world-wide.
Each year kindergartens across the country get the kids
to draw or paint their own pictures, which are then
re-produced into plates, mugs, wall clocks or mouse pads
which are given to grandparents, parents or kept for
themselves as lasting treasures.
We have in the plate cupboard the plate that Maddie
made 10 years ago and it's still in perfect condition.
And so, being the big kid that I am, I went about
creating my own design to be made into a plate and
matching cup.
**
**
There's something so exciting about receiving a gift that
has been made with the recipient in mind and so I want
to see what awesome handmade gifts all of our
Roses on Paper followers can produce to be used as gifts
this Christmas.
Perhaps you could decorate a cookie tin or revamp a
store bought diary, the ideas are endless, just remember
you must use the correct stamps to be eligible for an
awesome prize from Summer, ie Magnolia, Belles 'n Whistles,
Bildmarna or Greeting Farm.

ROP Challenge - Christmas Gift, Part 1

**
Yay - it's the First day of December, which means
the first day of Summer here and Australia and it
also means the 'official' countdown to Christmas
can begin. My Christmas tree will go up today and
the Christmas lights decorating the outside of our
house will be turned on tonight.
It also means the mad rush of organising
presents for all the family and friends.
**
**
But it doesn't have to be a night-mare, in fact you
can make it quite fun. Everyone loves to receive
presents and a hand-made gift is just so much more
personal and special. Why not join us at
Roses On Paper and be inspired by some of the
hand-made Christmas gifts created by our awesome
design team.
This fortnights challenge is hosted by myself and I'm
wanting to see what our Roses On Paper followers
can create to put under the tree this Christmas.
**
**
For my first gift,
(not sure who's going to get it cause I love it so much lol!!!!!)
I've altered a store bought diary and notebook.
Isn't that a bit brighter than a plain old black one!!!
**
**
You don't want to miss out on this challenge,
not only will you be creating a personalised
hand-made gift to give to someone special,
but by entering our challenge you'll have the
oportunity to collect a Christmas gift for
yourself. Once again, the very generous
Summer, is giving away some awesome
stamps to the winner of this challenge.
To be eligible make sure you use the correct stamps,
Magnolia, Belles 'n Whistles, Bildmarna or Greeting Farm.

ROP Challenge - Afternoon Bike Ride

**
WOW - can you believe this is Roses on Paper 25th
Challenge. We've been nearly going for 12 months and
what and incredible 12 months it's been.
Lots of new friendships formed and a huge amount of
awesome creations.
This challenge is hosted by the very talented Anki, who
is freezing her little toes of in Sweden whilst I'm
sweltering here in Australia.
Anki is asking for a Romantic card, based around one
of her favourite movies - Sweet November.
**
**
And how sweet do Tilda and Edwin look going for a
Romantic afternoon bike ride ~ very sweet.
I'm loving the new Design Papers from Magnolia, the
computer doesn't do them justice. The blue is just so
fresh and summery - perfect for our Australian summer.
**

**
My sweet Magnolia stamps are, as always, from
Summer at Roses on Paper. Summer is once again
putting up a great prize for this fortnights challenge, so
ink up your stamps, make sure they are ones that are
specified on Roses on Paper Challenge Blog, and join us
for another fun challenge.
And speaking of fun challenges, for this card I've used
the sketch from the talented ladies at Magnolia Downunder,
however I've turned it on it's side.

Wax and Feathers

**
I've been putting this project off for as long
as possible, it seemed quite daunting, however
I was thrilled with the end result and I hope my
cousin will be too.
This candle and card was a special order from
my cousin for her best friends 40th birthday.
**
**
I told her too look at my blog and pick out
a style of card that she liked and just my
luck she picked my Dancing with the Stars
feather card. What was I thinking when I
agreed to make it as a candle!!!
I just hope she never lights it - those feathers
will go up in a flash!!!!
**
**
I'm loving the Japanese paper I used with the metallic
cardstock - it all comes together to look very exotic and
glamourous. A beautiful friendship poem on the reverse
side finishes the candle.

Teddy Bear Wishes

Even though I haven't updatedmy blog for a couple of
weeks now I have actually been making cards.
Each December, after I've put postage stamps on the last
of the cards to be sent out I vow that I'll make a Christmas
a week so that I'm not overwhelmed by the huge amount
of Christmas cards that I have to make, and each November
without fail I find myself up to my ears in Christmas design
paper madly trying to get through my list.
And in amongst it all family and friends are still celebrating
birthdays which require a handmade card.
**
**
This card was made for my nephews 24th Birthday last
week.
Those of you that know me know that I struggle with
masculine cards, however I think my struggle is over,
having found this gorgeous Teddy in a Vest and Bear Squares
stamps, both from Stamp-It Australia.

Spider Webs & Bat Wings

**
I love Halloween and I'm so glad Aussies are really
beginning to get behind this 'scarey' celebration.
I'm really enjoying sharing these cards with my friends
and getting them into the Halloween spirit.
**
**
For this card I've used the cutest little bat you've ever
seen, together with the Spooky moon background and little
cauldron, all from the new Halloween Collection, and if
you're as mad about Magnolia's as I am then you'll want
to get every single one of the gorgeous Designer Papers
that Magnolia are releasing with all of their new stamp
collections.
I've purchased all my papers from Crafts U Love. The
service is brilliant and the shipping time from the UK
to Australia is under a week.
**
**
If you're a follower of my blog then you'll know that I'm
a big fan of combining challenges and this week is no
exception.
I came up with four different challenges for this card.
The wonderful sketch is from Sunday Sketches. I only
came across this particular blog recently, but already
I'm a big fan - great sketches.
The distressing idea comes from the ladies at
Magnolia Down Under - gotta love a challenge blog
from my own country.
Next up from the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog is the task
of scraplifting/taking inspiration from one of the great
DT cards and my last challenge comes from the team
of talented ladies at Stamp Something - this week they're
asking for a Halloween theme on your card.

Devilish Magnolia

**
There's a little bit of devil in all of us, but let's face it,
some are just so much cuter than others.
Who could possibly resist giving this adorable little
devil the entire container of Trick or Treat goodies.
**
**
I love it when I get to combine challenges and I've found
some great ones for this card.
**
First up for a little bit of bling head over to
Stamp Something. They want to see anything that sparkles,
shimmers, glimmers, or shines.
From the tip of Tilda's little horns to the bottom of her
devil tale I've got that challenge covered.
**
**
The next challenge I've chosen to participate is from
Sunday Sketches. This weeks sketch is fantastic and
the Design Team have some gorgeous cards there for
inspiration.
**
**
And if that's not enough challenges for you, our
very own Roses on Paper have a Halloween themed
challenge for you to play along with. If I wasn't on
the DT I'd enter this challenge myself!!!!!
And last, but by now means least, Magnolia Downunder
are also running a Halloween themed challenge this
week. I've already posted a card for this challenge,
but I'm loving these adorable little Halloween Magnolia
stamps so much I just had to make another card.

Boo!!!!!!!!

**
It's funny how we don't miss something until it's gone.
Due to family and work commitments I've taken a break
from all things crafty for the last month and I must say
I've missed it immensley.
And now what better way to throw myself back into my
much loved past time than with a Roses on Paper Challenge.
Summer has many new stamps and accessories in store
right now, including brand new Prima Flowers and Basic
Grey Paper Pads, so head on over and maybe start your
Christmas Wish List.
**

**
My very, very talented co DT friend Iris, has given us a
scarey challenge this week - Halloween - make a card,
invitation or gift card with a creepy Halloween theme.
**
I love to combine challenges and this week is no exception.
I got my sketch layout from Just Magnolia and I'm able
to join in the Magnolia Down Under challenge too, as
they are also calling for a Halloween theme.
It's great to see some fellow Aussies getting into
Halloween spirit.
**

**
I absolutely love my Magnolia stamps, and I am thrilled
every time Magnolia release a new set, however I must
say they have released so many adorable sets this year
that I'm having trouble creating enough cards to use
them all.
I must admit I do have quite a few of my precious
Magnolia's that have yet to see an ink pad, however I
know they can be used at any time during the year, this
Spooky Halloween Collection on the other hand only has
a small window of time to be used during the year.

After a Loooooong Break .....

**
Very slowly, after a loooooong break away from my
craft desk, I'm making my way through the big list
of cards that I need to make over the next few weeks.
**
First up was a wedding card and matching envelope made
for my cousins friend.
**
**
I love the elegance of the black, gold
and white, and the inside poem is a
favourite of mine for wedding cards.
**
**
A sheer black ribbon and hand-made
hat pin completed my card.
**
**
Ingredients
Alota Church Stamp
Metallic Cardstock
Glitter
Border Punch
Ribbon
Hand-Made Hat Pin
Computer Typed Poem
**
**
Next up is my daughter Maddie's 14th birthday card.
This 3D Pixie proved a big hit. 14 is that awkward age
of being past a child, but not quite an adult. This Pixie
is quite magical and mystical - something very appealing
for young teenage girls.
**
**
I haven't made a paper tole card for such a
long time, I forgot how much fun they are to
make, very time consuming, but the end result
is so worth the effort.
**
**
Ingredients
Caron Vinson 3D Paper Tole Kit
Metallic Cardstock
Purple Bazzil
3D Pop Dots
Diamanties
**
**
And finally, a First Holy Communion
card for Marks niece.
I didn't put as much effort into this
card as I would have like to, however
time wasn't on my side for this one, so
the end result is not what I originally
planned.

ROP Challenge - Strawberry Kisses

**
It's challenge time again at Roses on Paper.
Can you believe how fast the weeks are flying by.
It seems like I only just posted my card for our last
challenge and it's time to do it again.
**
**
I just received my order of Magnolia papers in the mail
last week from Crafts U Love. I couldn't open the
package fast enough. And speaking of fast, one week
delivery from UK to Australia - gotta love that.
I love my Magnolia stamps and when I found out
their was co-ordinating papers I just had to have them.
They are absolutely gorgeous.
The papers I have used are called Strawberry and
Strawberry Line and obviously there wasn't any other
choice to use with these stamps.
**
**
The very talented Rosette is hosting our Roses on Paper
challenge this week. Rosette has asked for Stitches on
your card - they can be machined, hand stitched, faux or
even rub on's.
Get out your Belles 'n Whistles, Magnolia's, Greeting Farm
or even the brand new Bildmalarna stamps (all available
from Roses on Paper) and get Stitching.

Hip Hip Hooray - Alexis is 1 Today

**
How cute is this giggling Magnolia,
just perfect for a cheeky little one year old.
This card was made for my little friend
Alexis who celebrated her first birthday
this week.
**

**
I enlarged a number 1 in Word to 200% then
printed it onto cardstock. This then formed my
base card, which was then covered with patterned
paper and pink bazzil.
**

**
Decorated with lots of girly pink flowers
and ribbons and one adorable giggling
little Magnolia.

Ingredients:

Bazzil
Patterned Paper

A Baptism Card for Kobi

**
A Special Little Boy deserves a Special Card.
We celebrated the Baptism of my Best Friend
Ally's little boy, Kobi, this week.
I knew my card had to be something special
and was thrilled with the end result.
**
**
At first I was a little concerned that the Rose
Border Punch might be a little too girly - but
with the touch of blue ribbon I think it works
just fine.
**
**
Pearl beads and a little silver cross
finished off the creation.
**
**
And a beautiful poem found on line
was then typed and computer generated.

that we present this awesome new collection of stamps,
created by the very talented Elisabeth Bell.

Belles 'n Whistles Trivet

Make sure you visit our Belles 'n Whistles blog each day. We will posting projects/creations everyday (Mo-Fr) for your inspiration. You'll also have the chance of winning Belles 'n Whistles stamps, just by leaving a comment! And if that's not enough - here's some more GREAT news - There will be a new release VERY soon. So make sure you drop by the Belles 'n Whistles blog regularly

**
After all your awesome ideas last Friday I shouldn't
be stuck for inspiration for a long time.
There were so many great projects to choose from.
~
A couple of people suggested some sort of charm/keyring
made with Shrinky Dinks - if you take a look in the
Belles 'n Whistles Gallery
this was one of the first things
I did with Belles 'n Whistles Sisters stamp. It's a fun and
surprisingly easy little project to do and by turning your
charm into a keyring the recipient can take their gift
with them everytime they leave the house.
~
Another great suggestion was a candle. I love making
candles, each time I make one I'm continually amazed
peeling off the wax paper to see the image adhered to
the candle.
~
Quite a few people had the idea for note paper/note books.
Make sure you keep an out here because with Christmas
fast approaching a few friends will be receiving just that
(shhhhh - it's a meant to be a secret lol)
~
Anyway, as you know I decided to use Carrie's idea to
make a Trivet.
As soon as I read this I could almost smell the freshly
baked Apple Pie coming out of the oven and being placed
on the trivet on my kitchen bench - mmmmmm, yum.

Butterflies and Magnolia - ROP Challenge

**
Well Spring is definately in the air.
I didn't think we'd ever see the end of winter, and I'm
not fooled, I'm sure there's still some wind and rain left
to come, but until it arrives I'm happy to soak up the sun
of these gorgeous Spring days we've been having here
in Australia
**
My garden has brand new flower buds everywhere and
new leaves are appearing on all my deciduous trees,
there is new life appearing everywhere.
**
**
I received my new Summer Magnolia collection last week
and I was so tempted to use some of the stamps, but for
Spring I really couldn't go past Magnolia Chasing Butterflies.
She looks just like my little girl trying to catch butterflies in
our garden. And as f0r my Summer collection, if this years
summer is anything like last years, I'll have many months
to be inspired by them.
**
**
So onto this weeks challenge at Roses on Paper.
My very talented friend Susan has chosen the beautiful
colour combination of Soft Blue, Lavender and Cream.
These colours work so nicely together.
**
With the addition of Belles 'n Whistles stamps being added
to our challenge blog you have even more reason now to
play along with us.
And if that's not enough reason maybe one of the great
prizes Summer has on offer for the lucky winner will
tempt you to play along.
**
**
I had a day out last week with a family friend to
an open garden. The gardens are owned by
Dame Elisabeth Murdoch.
For my American friends, she is the mother of
media magnate, Rupert Murdoch.
Anyway, I took so many photos, with the promise of
sending copies to my friend. I didn't want to just put them
in any old envelope, so I've created this folder card to send
them in. I hope she will carry them around and show
them off proudly.

An Uninterrupted Day at My Craft Desk!!!

**
Well that doesn't happen too often .......
a whole day at my craft desk, and yes my
family was home - but I have a new defence
weapon - after many years of constantly
being interrupted by kids for one thing or
another I've just discovered that if I sing
along to Michael Bublé in my craft room
no-one will come near me!!!!!
**
**
I love making these Tri-Fold cards, they are
so much fun. This one is for my brothers
birthday. We all know how much I LOVE
making masculine cards - not, but I was
quite happy with this one.
**
**
Ingredients:
Alota Rubber Stamps Cupcake
Basic Grey Black Tie Paper
Cardstock
Copic Markers
Diamanties
Ribbon
Heart
Crystal Effects
**

**
Another male card - two in a row, oh no - thankfully
I was saved with this gorgeous little Soccer Izac
from Anki's Sweethearts, designed by my very
talented friend Anki.
How perfect for my soccer playing nephews
8th birthday.
**

**
I made a little pocket on the inside of this one to
slip a bit of money in the card.
**

**
Ingredients:
Anki's Sweethearts - Soccer Izac
SU Soccer Balls
Cardstock
Copic Markers
Circle Punch
White Marker Pen

**

**
Can you believe it - ANOTHER male
card - that's three in a row - I'm lucky
if I achieve one a month, but three in
one day, well that's just unheard of!!!
**

**
This time it was a New Home card for
my nephew who has just purchaed his
first home. I'm so proud of him, at 24
it's a great achievement.
Nothing girly about this one, lots of
brown and blue (well apart from the key -
but it does go with the whole house theme)
**

Ingredients:
Boards and Beams House Stamp
Cardstock
Tim Holzt Distress Ink
Twine

Belles 'n Whistles Black 'n White Collection

**
Finally I finished my first collection of cards from the
gorgeous Belles 'n Whistles Collection.
I'm sure you will agree that Summer and Elisabeth
have worked well together to put together a stunning
set of stamps.
They are so wonderful to work with - lovely big images
that are just so much fun to colour.
**
**
After completing my Sisters project I was a little unsure
of what to do with the other stamps - then I decided to
run with Black 'n White for all of the cards - I thought that
really highlighted the colours I had chosen for the images.

Spring is in the Air!!!!!

**
Spring is nearly here and so is another challenge
Unless something dramatic happens with the
weather in a couple of weeks I think I'll still be
shivering for another month or so.
It has been freezing here in Melbourne and
there is no sign of it letting up any time soon.

**
I may not have any control over the weather but I can
certainly decide how much spring I put into my cards,
and Tilda with a new born lamb to me is the
image of Spring.
**

**
The weeks have flown by so fast and it's my turn to host
the Challenge at Roses on Paper.
This year I seem to have collected a large amount of
punches - who can resist them when the craft companies
keep bringing out such awesome designs.
My challenge to you is to grab your Magnolia, Alota ,
Belles 'n Whistles or Greeting Farm, choose the sketch
challenge of your choice and then incorporate those great
punches into your card.
Summer very generously has a great new stamp from
Belles 'n Whistles for the winner of this challenge, so get
punching!!!!
**

**
Being a self-confessed Magnolia lover I've chosen the

Just Magnolia sketch challenge this week to combine with
my punch challenge.
The ladies there never fail to come up with some great
sketches.

Belles 'n Whistles - Sisters

**

**
At last, the wait is over and I can now introduce
to you the newest members of the Belles 'n Whistles
family ~ Sisters.
**

**
I couldn't get the ink on this stamp fast enough, and then
the 2 minute wait for ink to dry before I could start to
colour them was almost un-bearable lol!!!!
And now, I can tell you, the long wait was well worth it.
These stamps are an absolute delight to work with.
**
**
Together with artist, Elisabeth Bell, our very own
Summer ~ from Roses on Paper, has worked tirelessly
to produce the most amazing set of stamps.
The packaging is stunning, as much as I wanted to use
them I also wanted to keep them all wrapped up in their
beautiful packages lol!!!!
**
**
Stamping and colouring these gorgeous Sisters wasn't
enough for me, I had to do something else with them,
so out came the Shrinky Dinks ~ a few minutes in the oven,
some beautiful crystal beads and I have the cutest hat pin
ever. How much fun was that!!!!
**
**
And these special little Sisters also needed
a very special poem.
Whenever I come across a poem or verse that I like
I put in a folder for future use, and this was exactly
the right time for this poem.
The words are beautiful.
**
**
I'll be posting some more images from this fantastic new
Belles 'n Whistles collection over the coming weeks, but
if you can't wait til then to see them take a look at my
fellow Design Team member blogs to see what they have
done with their stamps.
You'll find some stunning creations from:
Iris, Rosette, Lim, Anki, Jodi, Susan and our special guest
Designers: Kathrin, Lynda and Lilian.
**
**
And if all that wasn't enough, the artist herself,
has the most amazing blog candy up for grabs.
While you're visiting her blog make sure you
take a look at all her beautiful images, who knows,
one or two of them might be turned into rubber
before too long!!!!!!

ROP Challenge ~ Autumn Photo Shoot

**
**
It's time to get out your Greeting Farm, Alota and
Magnolia stamps and head on over to Roses on Paper
for another great challenge.
Summer has a great range of these stamps available, with
some new Greeting Farm stamps just in stock.
Anki (designer of Anki's Sweethearts) is our talented
host this week with a challenge that was just too easy
for me - Autumn colours, well for all my international friends -
Fall colours - Orange, Brown and Warm Red.
Come and join in the fun, you could pick up one of the great
prizes that Summer has for each of our challenges.
**

**
For those of you that know me you'll know that Pink
Champagne is my favourite drink, the Beach is my favourite
place to be and Autumn is my most favourite time of the year.
If Christmas was in Autumn the years would be perfect.
I love the warm days, the cooler nights and the beautiful
changing colours of the leaves that are just superb for taking
photo's, which is generally what I'm doing on those magical
days.
**

**
Since our combination challenge a couple of months
ago I've really taken a liking to combining my projects.
My design layout for my card this week came from the
great sketch at Friday Sketches.
The have some very talented crafts people over there
providing some great sketches and this is just another
example of the fun layouts.
**

**
I was waiting for the right card for this awesome
camera stamp and when I saw this weeks sketch I knew
it was time to ink my stamp. Tilda just looks so cute
posing for the camera in amongst the Autumn leaves.
**

**
Everytime I use this paper I have to smile - it is my all
time favourite paper, and with very good reason - a few
years ago I was working on a scrapbook page for some
Autumn photo's I had taken of my girls - I knew how I
wanted my page to look and what paper I wanted, but
do you think I could find it anywhere.
I went to every craft store I could get to, phoned them,
and googled them and then eventually after months of
searching and having given up hope I was on Ebay for
something else and found a lady in America selling the
paper that I had designed in my head!!!!! - only problem
she wasn't shipping to Australia - that was until I begged
and pleaded and offered to buy all ten packets that she
was selling!!!!
She gave in and 5 years later - I'm still stocked up on this
paper and Tina is one of my great friends - and I always
tell her she was my best purchase ever on Ebay!!!!!
And so that is why I smile whenever using this paper.

Willow Baby Candle

**
I ordered this Willow stamp, by Elisabeth Bell
as soon as it was released, and then I waited
and waited and waited for one of my friends
to have a baby girl and now FINALLY I have
a chance to use it.
I know I could have used it for a baby boy but
as a crafter when I get an image in my head of
how I want something to look, that's how it
has to be.
**
**
I used the layout at Sketch Saturday for
my card. I wanted the focus to be on the
gorgeous stamp and the clean simple lines
of this sketch were perfect.
**
**
When my card was complete I wanted to
colour another Willow, so I decided to make
a co-ordinating baby candle.
**
**
I found this beautiful baby poem for one side
with Willow on the other.
I made matching hat-pins for the card and
the candle and used the same metallic pearls
and ribbon.
I love making candles. It amazes me how such
a simple process can look so stunning.
I just hope the recipient doesn't light it!!!!!

**Dancing with the Stars**

**
What else would you do with a bunch of
feathers other than turn them into a card!!!
All fired up with inspiration from my visit
to the craft show last week I pulled out my
very neglected Gelly Roll pens and got busy
creating.
I haven't used gold stickers for so long, in the
beginning nearly every one of my cards had
them on, so after nearly two years of not
touching them it was time to bring back with a
bit of a modern twist to them.
I forgot how much fun it was using the Gelly
Rolls with the stickers.
**
**
With all the stunning dresses from our current
season of Dancing with the Stars in mind and
the sketch from Fridays Sketches this is what
I came up with.
I have a love hate relationship with the
Metallic Cardstock - I love to use it, but hate
to try to photograph it.

3.5 Challenges in One!!!!! ROP Bag Full of Hearts

**
I can't believe that with all the excitement
last week in revealing Belles 'n Whistles
puzzle pieces that my 5000th blog hit came
and went without me stopping to acknowledge it.
**
I'd like to say a HUGE thank-you to
everyone that has stopped by to look at my
over the last year to look at my creations.
It's really encouraging having fellow crafters
view and comment on your work.
**
**
And so onto this weeks Roses on Paper challenge.
The very talented Lim has asked for a card with Hearts.
I bought these gorgeous heart charms at the Melbourne
Craft & Quilt Fair that I went to last week which were
just perfect for this challenge.
This ~From the Heart~ stamp was the perfect
sentiment to go with the Heart theme and finished
off the gift card nicely.
To take part in this challenge and your chance to maybe
pickup one of the fantastic prizes that Summer offers up
with each challenge be sure to go to our
If you don't have the necessary stamps for our challenges
be sure to visit Summer for all your Magnolia stamps.
**
**
You may have noticed the strange title for
this posting -
3.5 Challenges in One & a Bag Full of Hearts!!!!!
I've been so busy trying to complete our
end of year tax paper work that I haven't
had a great deal of time to 'play' at my
craft desk - so I decided to combine my 4
favourite challenge blogs in one ~
(are you beginning to get the idea that I LOVE Magnolia's!!!)
**
**
But why the 3.5???
Well the Just Magnolia Tutorial blog has a tutorial on
creating 3D images - as I've only made my letter 3D
I figure I've only done half the challenge!!!!!
**
**
The Just Magnolia challenge blog had this awesome
sketch - with the request for 3 x something in the top
corner it was just the perfect place for my 3 Hearts.
And then finally Just Magnolia Too had the interesting
idea of decorating a paper bag. I chose to decorate a
brown paper gift bag - I just don't want to give it away
to anyone now!!!!!
And there you have it - 3.5 Challenges in One!!!!!

Fiskars Coming up Roses Border Punch

70th Birthday Wishes

**
One of my friends asked me to make a
birthday card for her dad's 70th Birthday.
I tried to make it a week ago however I
ended up so sidetracked that the card I
made ended up being my Summer/Vacation
card for our Roses on Paper challenge!!!!
**
**
I did like making the tri-fold card that I used for my
Summer card, so with that design in mind I finally got
around to making the birthday card that I was meant
to do in the first place.
I found these great Alison Ellis Design paper at my local
craft store which have huge cupcakes just perfect for
paper piecing.
**
I completed the card with a matching envelope,
using these great EK Success flourish punches.

"Peek-a-Boo"

**
Wow - how did you all go looking for clues -
I hope you all left comments along the way.
So what do you think of the first brand new
pretty darn cute, if you ask me.
How lucky are we to have such a talented artist
as Elisabeth Bell creating these gorgeous stamps
**
I'm already forward planning and have my
co-ordinating papers picked out in my head -
now I just need this adorable stamp.
**

**

So moving on, as I was about to do this post I realised that it's my 100th posting, and a monumental number calls for an exciting post - and I think revealing the first piece of the puzzle for our second Belles 'n Whistles stamp is pretty exciting!!!

**

Well get your thinking caps on, below is the first reveal. If you've come this far and managed to find this piece be sure to leave a comment as those who do will be automatically entered into a drawing to win the actual rubber stamp. How awesome would that be.

Remember - Only one entry per sneak peek will be allowed so don't worry about having to leave comments for each new piece that is revealed.

**

**
So - any ideas????
Make sure you visit all my fellow DT members
blogs in search of the second piece of the puzzle.

ROP SUMMERY / VACATION CHALLENGE

**
Can you believe how fast the weeks fly by -
it seems like I only just posted my card for
our last challenge and now it's time for our
next one.
My incredibly talented DT friend, Iris, is the
host for this fortnights challenge, the theme -
"Summer/Vacation"
Get out your Magnolia's/Greeting Farm stamps
and join in our Roses on Paper challenge.
**
I must say I struggled with this one - not that
I don't like summer - I LOVE summer, I struggled
because in the middle of a freezing cold dreary
winters afternoon, with no daylight left at 5pm
in the afternoon I was seriously left with no
summery inspiration whatsoever - all I could
think about was trying to keep my feet warm!!
**

**
And then, it all just seemed to fall into place.
Well, it wasn't quite like that - this card was
not intended to be my DT card - it was meant
to be a card my friend had requested that I
make for her dad's 70th birthday!!!
So, I started with my brown cardstock, that's
very masculine - then I spied my Basic Grey
Sultry paper pad, what???? that's not very
manly at all - ahhhh but it is very summery.
Add a very tropical looking Tilda, some hot
pink flowers, a little golden thong (flip flop)
charm and here's my card.
**

**
I wanted to try something a little different for my card
this week, so when I came across the technique for making
a Tri-Fold card at SCS I decided to give that a try.
It looks complicated, but it is surprisingly very, very easy,
and I think it gives cards a bit of a WOW factor.
Below you can see all the various layers from above.
**

**
For your chance to maybe pick up an awesome prize come
on over to Roses on Paper and join in this fun challenge.
Don't have any Magnolia or Greeting Farm Stamps - not a
problem, Summer has a HUGE collection of stamps, with a
new shipment of Magnolia's just in stock this week.

Just Magnolia (and Roses too!!!)

**
I don't participate in combined challenges - not that I
don't want to, it's more a case that I'll see a challenge
and have an idea, so I'll make that card and then move
onto the next challenge site. I definately need to change
my way of thinking - combining challanges is definately
the way to go.
**

**
For this card I've chosen the sketch challange at SCS for
the first part of the combination.
I really loved this sketch - something different other
than all the usual layering of papers.
**

**
For the next part of the combination I couldn't go past
one of my favourite sites - Just Magnolia.
You have to love a site that asks that you use nothing
but Magnolia stamps - that's easy.
The challenge there this week is to use a charm of some
sort on the card. I've been waiting to make a hat pin
with my rose charms and it turned out to be the
perfect compliment for the rose stamp from the
Chasing Butterflies collection.
**

**
Another thing I don't usually do is decorate the insides
of my cards - no excuse other than just being lazy.
That's another thing I need to work on -
I love how a lot of my fellow card makers finish
off their cards on the inside, so this is something I'll
be doing myself from now on.
The Basic Grey pads are perfect for completing the
insides of the cards.

ROP Gatefold Challenge

**
Can you believe it - this is our 15th challenge
The months seem to have just flown past.
During this time we have seen some amazing
creations by some very talented ladies.
Actually, I should correct that, men do
participate in card making challenges, and we've
got one follower, Scott, who is a very talented
young man with a huge amount of potential.
**
**
This weeks challenge is by the very talented
Jodi - a Gate Fold card with stitching.
The Gate Fold wasn't a problem but I must
admit I don't sew, not even buttons, so it was
faux stitching for me.
**
**
We've had a HUGE response to our Guest DT call out
for the brand new Belles 'n Whistles stamps, (head over
to the blog to find out about a Sneak Peek) due for
release in July - I hope if you wanted to be in with a
chance at this wonderful opportunity that you've
already participated in one or more of our Roses on
Paper challenges - the lucky card maker who will
take on a 2 month Guest Designer role will be
announced very soon - and let me tell you, it's going
to be a very, very tough decision, there have been
some brilliant entries.

Winter Magnolia

**
I love this Magnolia stamp - but then I love ALL
of the Magnolia stamps!!!!
While my international crafting friends are out
and about getting suntans and swimming I'm
freezing my butt off like little Tilda in the middle
of a cold Melbourne winter.
**
**
Sketch Saturday was my challenge of choice for
inking up the little cutie. She looks my Annie-May,
all rugged up for winter, collecting leaves in the park.
**
**
I don't usually finish off the insides of my cards,
not that I don't want to, generally I'm running
out of time to get projects finished, however this
card is for my sister's birthday tomorrow, so a
special person needs a special card.
I played around with a bit of Glimmer Mist on
the leaves and I was quite pleased with the
results.

Turning Japanese, I Think I'm Turning Japanese - I Really Think So!!!!

**
Oh do you remember that song from the 80's????
Other than my Magnolia collection, I really don't buy
many stamps these days, unless I fall in love instantly
like I did with this new set of stamps from Hero Arts.
There was no way I was leaving the store without them,
and the Japanese papers I found to go with them are
gorgeous - and the fact that they were quite expensive
didn't deter me, I think I got just about one of each sheet!!!
**
**
Even though the stamped image came complete with
chopsticks in her hair, she was just screaming out for
a little bit of modification in the form of miniature hand
made hat pins.
**

**
I've taken this weeks SCS sketch and modified
it just a little.
Each of their little dresses has been cut from the
Japanese paper, and after colouring their hair,
the fans and feet with atyou Spica markers I've
then used Crystal Effects for impact.

Happy Travels!!!!

**
Ok, so my weekend trip away got cancelled and
the only obvious thing that I could think of to do
was to go and spend my airfare on craft supplies!!!!
**
So after a visit to my favourite local craft store, Paper 2
to stock up on totally unneccessary supplies, and a little
bit of blog hopping for inspiration I felt I was ready to
launch myself back into my craft room.
** **
How ironic that the card I chose to make today
is for my auntie who is heading off on holidays!!!!
As always, my gorgeous Magnolia stamps
and accessories are available from
Summer at Roses on Paper.
I love this double sided paper I found today at

Taking a Break

**
I'm taking a couple of weeks off from crafting,
I've been a bit run down of late and seem to
have lost my mojo. I'm hoping a bit of a break
will restore my craftiness!!!! Later this week
I'm heading off for the Long Weekend to visit
my brother in Brisbane, Queensland, and will
return with re-newed vigor and enthusiasm.
**
In the meantime I'd like to share a new blog
I've been working on:
Some of you know that I have a passion for
photography, and this blog is where I want to
share my photography work with you.

Butterfly Wishes

**
What do you do when you cut Tilda's antennae off...
you make new ones of course!!!
After colouring and decorating it came time for cutting---
The new Magnolia Chasing Butterflies collection
(available from Summer at Roses on Paper)
is absolutely gorgeous, but so hard to cut out around the
antennae, soooo a little bit of craft wire did the trick.
**
Well yet again the girls at Just Magnolia have come up
with another fun sketch for this weeks challenge.
Thank goodness I live in Australia and have 24 hours on
most of you, cause I really cut things fine this week
getting my card made and posted before the dead line.

ROP Challenge - For the Boyz!!!!!!

**
Frogs & Snails and Puppy Dog Tails...
That's what little boys are made of!!!!
**
**
It's challenge time again at Roses on Paper
and it's back around to my turn to host it.
**
We can all make pretty cards with ribbons
and bows and flowers all around, but when
it comes to masculine cards I'm so out of my
comfort zone.
**
So my challenge for you is to create a totally
masculine card - no ribbons or bows, no satin
or lace, no pink or purple, no diamonds or pearls.
This card is to be One For The Boyz!!!!!

Summer always has wonderful prizes up for
grabs and this week is no acception.

Magnolia's.
Just Magnolia are now in their third week and I'm just
loving joining in these fun challenges.

I've tried to add a bit of debth to this gorgeous little

ROP Challenge - Folder Card

**
Do you ever wonder what happens to all those
handmade cards you send out each year - are they really
appreciated by the people we send them to???
Today I dropped in unexpectedly to see a friend
hadn't seen in a couple of months.
I was blown away with amazement to see not one,
but six of the cards I had sent to her family
for various occassions over the last few
months sitting on display on a wall-unit.
I couldn't believe it - when I asked her what that was
all about she told me she loved them all so much she
couldn't bear to take them down -
and that to me makes all the hard work worth it!!
**
**
With that said, lets get started on the next challenge at
This weeks challenge, hosted by the wonderful
Anki, is so cool. You'll be making a Folder Card,
just in time to slip a gift voucher inside for
Mother's Day - and so very practible for any
other gift giving occassion throughout the year.

As usual, the very generous Summer, is offering
a wonderful prize for the lucky winner - so head
the details on how to participate in this fun
challenge.

The Colours of Autumn

**
We're right in the middle of Autumn here
in Australia and as it's my favourite season
I thought it was the perfect time to make
this card.
**
The background paper comes with a story.
I had wanted to make a scrapbook page a
few years ago and I knew exactly what the
paper was to look like - the only problem
was I couldn't find it anywhere, that is
until I saw it in a Close to my Heart ad.
So Ifound the paper but this created a bigger
problem - CTMH don't sell in Australia.
I searched and searched for weeks to find this
paper and then I found it for sale on Ebay
in America- by a lady who has since
turned out to be one of my dearest friends.
To this day I still tell her she was my best
purchase I've made on Ebay!!!!!!
**
**
I like this weeks sketch challenge from SCS, nice clean
lines - it's a good sketch for a busy background like the
one I've used.
All of my stamps are from various Magnolia collections,
which are available from Roses on Paper.
The gorgeous new Butterfly collection is on order and
should be in the store very soon.

It's Time For Another ROP Challenge......

**
Spring is in the air - - - - f0r some of you,
and Autumn is all around me so the colours for
this weeks challange at ROP are really at the
opposite end of spectrum for me.
**
The very telented Susan has chosen
Aqua, Peach and Butter Yellow
for the a fun colour combination challenge at
Summer always puts up some great prizes so
grab your stamps - remember they must be either
Magnolia, Alota, Stampavie, or the Greeting Farm
(all of which are available from Summer)
and join us in another fun challenge.
**
**
I don't ususally work with blues or greens so this
really was a challenge for me, but I was really
pleased with the end results - and I must admit
the colour combination works really well together -
very Springy (is that a word???)

Believe in the Magic of Fairies

**
I love blog hopping - it's like turning left on the freeway
instead of taking the usual right hand turn - you just
don't know where you're going to end up. And that's
exactly what happened today - I turned left and ended
up at a brand new challange blog - Just Magnolia.
The challenge - create a card using
the sketch, using any image you like -
as long as it's a Magnolia!!!
**
**
I go through months of learning a new
technique and then it appears on most
of my cards lol!!!
Last month it was hat pins - this month
it's hand made quilled flowers.
It's awesome how a few twists and turns
of paper can turn into a flower.
I've got a lot to learn but I've been really
pleased with what I've done so far.
My friend Moi has given me some fantastic
instructions for the roses -
I've tried heaps of different techniques,
but these are by far the best.
**

**
I love this Fairy image, available from
Roses on Paper. She looks so cheeky
and cute - and I can just imagine her
dancing in my rose garden at midnight.

A Few Cards ....

**
It seems like forever since I've up loaded cards.
With school holidays and Easter I've been flat
out keeping the kids entertained, however this
week I decided to keep myself entertained - and
so I headed straight to my craft room.
**

**
This gorgeous Magnolia image with the cute little chicks is
from the Easter collection, available from
Roses On Paper.
I had wonderful intentions of getting her in the mail for a
friend for Easter, but she's still sitting on my desk -
maybe I'll get in early for next Easter.

I don't have any Hanglar stamps of my own, but I've
been lucky enough to have been sent some images from
my fellow DT member,
Lim.
It's nice to have some different images to work with, ones
that you have to be really careful with because if you mess
it up - too bad - there's not another one to to replace it with.
**

**
I computer generated with strawberry embellishments
and added crystal effects to really make you think you
could grab them and eat them.
I love the shoes on this Hanglar girl - they remind me so
much of a pair I used to have when I was little.

I'm not that good at making masculine cards,
and this one was no exception.
Apart from the Hanglar boy I don't think I
could make it any more 'girly' if I tried.
**

**
My friend
Moi has kindly given me the instructions on
how to make these fantastic paper roses. They are quite
easy to make and look great, now I just need to resist the
temptation to put them onto everycard I make!!!

ROP Challenge - Decorated Candle

**
I've wanted to decorate a candle for so
long, but have always been apprehensive, thinking
it would be too difficult - boy was I wrong.
**
**
At Roses On Paper this week there is actually two
challenges to choose from.
Hosted by my very talented friend, Iris
you are being given the choice of decorating
a candle or using the inspirational picture to make a card.
A Hint - do the candle - it is SOOOOOO much fun.
With the help of a great tutorial from Iris I picked this
technique up in no time.
I was meant to decorate one candle for the DT team,
but I ended up making 5!!!!!
For your chance to join in the fun, learn a new technique
and maybe pick up an awesome prize donated by Summer,
head over to our Challenge Blog.
**
**
Once I got started I was instantly hooked.
I'm now thinking ahead for all the beautiful presents
I can make with a matching card,
who wouldn't be happy to receive that.
**
**
For the Tilda candle I used my H20's
to decorate the stamped image.
I was concerned that they might lose some of
their shimmer once the was paper went over the top -
but surprisingly the images are still shimmery.
**

**
Prima Belle Fleur flowers, which are available
in various colours from Summer were used to
decorate the candle, with matching ribbon and
brads to finish off.
**

**
My church candle, using and image from Alota Rubber Stamps ,
which is available from Summer turned out to be my
favourite candle.
I stamped my image with Memento Tuxedo Black and
highlighted it with gold glitter.
**
**
I was able to incorporate my new love at the moment,
a handmade decorated hatpin, as additional decoration
along with matching black satin and gold ribbon.

ROP Challenge - Patchwork Card

**
My little baby turned 5 on Monday
and to help her celebrate we had a party.
**
**
Since having my blog this would have to have
been
one of the longest breaks I had from making cards.
Not that I haven't wanted to, seriously I could
hear my craft room calling me.
However, this week there was no time
for anything else other than getting things
ready for Annie-May's birthday party.
And let me tell you, it was worth every second
of stress that I went through.
.....including the whole day it took me to make the cake.
**
**
.....and the arm strain putting up decorations.
**

**
.....and the 20 little girls here on Sunday.
Every year we have a theme and this year
was no exception.
The Circus came to town and no circus
is complete without a clown.
Annie-May was lucky enough to have not one, but two
clowns. Daisy (the paid professional), ........
was absolutely brilliant and her sister Maddie.....
(who is in just a clown in general!!!!)
**
**
And so we survived another party, and
apart from the huge pile of presents in
my loungeroom life returns to normal and
that means more challenges.
**
Once again the very generous Summer has
put up for grabs a great prize and all you have
to do for your chance to win is make a card.
Sound simple, right, well it is.
Just head over to our Roses on Paper Challenge
Blog for all the details of this weeks
Patchwork Card Challenge,
hosted by the very talented Jodi.

70 Years of Wedded Bliss

**
**
When my auntie asked my to make an anniversary
card for her dear friends, of course I said yes.
When she told me it was for their
70th Wedding Anniversary I was speechless.
I can't even begin to image 70 years old,
let alone being married for 70 years.
How different their lives have been to young married
couples starting out today.
**
**
I've tried to capture how I imagine their romance would
have been, the antique script of the many love letters
they would have written each other, the weekly bunches
of roses - just to say I Love You and the hat pin from the
Sunday Best as they dressed for church,

**
Get your stamps inked up, it's Challenge time again.
With Summer from Roses On Paper offering some
wonderful prizes each fortnight you'd be crazy not
to join in.
Our host for Challenge # 7 is Rosette, who has
dazzled the DT with her beautiful creation.
For those of you who love layering your cards
Rosette has provided an awesome sketch for

I'd been waiting for the right time to use this gorgeous
Elisabeth Bell Sugar Nellie stamp - Hug in a Mug,
and what better time than now.
After managing to avoid all the flu bugs
that have hounded my DT friends for so long
it finally caught up with me.
The long awaited for cool change finally hit Melbourne,
but along with it came the coughs and colds.
So while I was sitting bundled up on the couch drinking
my honey tea, hugging my beloved flower cup, the
inspiration came to me, now was the time to use
this beautiful stamp.
**
Last month Elisabeth announced that she will be working
exclusively with 4 stores, and as you know Summer
is the owner of one of those lucky stores.
I'll keep you up to date with new stamps at
Roses On Paper, but in the meantime, head over there
for the Sugar Nellie, Magnolia and The Greeting Farm
stamps that Summer has in store
